Research

MÖBIUS is involved in several research projects in order to actively develop and offer state-of-the-art methodology and tooling to its customers.

Following research projects are ongoing:

  Period: 3 years
  Target Industry: Food, Chemical, Textile, Metal, Machinery & Equipment, Electronics
  The project aims at:
• Extending the state-of-the-art in Supply Chain Management
• Answering today's supply chain challenges: globalization, increased product diversification and shortening product lifecycles.
• Improving the state-of-the-art in statistical forecasting for product introduction/end-of-life
• Improving supply chain profit during product maturity through multi-echelon cyclic planning
• Improving product lifecycle management in supply chain planning, through seamless integration of the above improvements over a product lifecycle.

Partners: MÖBIUS teams up with Riga Technical University (Lv), Eurodécision (Fr), LoQutus (Be), Pliva-Lachema Diagnostika (Cz) and Huntsman (De).

• The LOTUS research project: LOTUS is short for Logistical Optimalisation - Simulationsuite
  Funded by: IWT & MÖBIUS
  Period: 2 years
  Target Industry: Companies aiming to reduce their stock costs while maintaining a high service level and companies aiming to efficiently match their customer's needs with their office-network and human capital.
  The project aims at:
• To create on basis of one dataset a dynamic simulation model and an optimisation model which are tuned to one another
• To set up fundamental business rules in order to steer automatically the optimisation model using the results of the simulation model as input
• To create one integrated tool covering the different components and creating one interface around one central database
• A modular concept, in which each module covers a specific domain of expertise: two modules were chosen: stock control and dispatching. Both of them make use of the LOTUS-platform
• The module stock control searches the balance between the service level and the stock cost. Known problem is the service level on order level. The LOTUS-suite makes it possible to reduce costs with 10 to 20% without harming the existing service levels
• The dispatching module OptiMobile matches people with specific capacitities on a certain location to tasks in a certain office. An overview of  the offices network and the allocation of people to those offices will be the result of this module. With the LOTUS-suite an improvement in efficiency of 15-20% is reachable.
